Technical Account Manager

Remote (US) full-time $140,000 - $180,000

About the Role

Our clients rely on SmithSpektrum to build their engineering teams. As a Technical Account Manager, you'll be their trusted advisor - understanding their technical needs, recommending the right engineers, and ensuring successful outcomes.

This role requires a unique blend of technical depth and relationship skills. You need to understand what makes a great engineer for a specific role and communicate that clearly to both clients and our talent team.

What You'll Do

  • Own relationships with key accounts and drive expansion
  • Conduct technical discovery to understand client needs and culture
  • Translate technical requirements into clear specifications for talent matching
  • Review engineer profiles and present qualified candidates to clients
  • Monitor engagement success and address issues proactively
  • Conduct regular business reviews with client stakeholders
  • Gather feedback to improve our matching and service
  • Collaborate with sales on complex opportunities

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in technical account management, solutions engineering, or technical consulting
  • Software engineering background (you've written production code)
  • Experience working with engineering leaders: CTOs, VPs of Engineering, Tech Leads
  • Strong understanding of modern software development practices and technologies
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with enterprise sales cycles and stakeholder management
  • Data-driven approach to measuring and improving client outcomes
  • Ability to travel occasionally for key client meetings (<20%)

What We Offer

  • Base salary: $140,000 - $180,000 depending on experience
  • Performance bonus up to 25% of base
