Staff Full-Stack Engineer - Platform
About the Role
We're building the platform that powers SmithSpektrum - from the matching engine that connects engineers with opportunities to the client dashboard that manages deployments. As a Staff Full-Stack Engineer, you'll lead development of core platform features.
Our stack: TypeScript everywhere (React, Node.js, Astro), PostgreSQL, Redis, deployed on AWS. We ship fast, measure everything, and iterate based on user feedback.
What you'll work on:
- Real-time matching interface for talent operations
- Client portal for managing engineer deployments
- Internal tools that make our team 10x more effective
- APIs that power integrations with ATS and HRIS systems
What You'll Do
- Lead development of major platform features from design to deployment
- Architect scalable, maintainable systems that the team can build on
- Define technical standards and best practices for the engineering team
- Review code, mentor engineers, and level up the team
- Collaborate with product and design to define requirements
- Own system reliability: monitoring, alerting, incident response
- Optimize performance and eliminate technical debt
- Contribute to engineering roadmap and technical strategy
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of full-stack engineering experience
- Expert TypeScript/JavaScript skills across frontend and backend
- Strong React experience with state management (Redux, Zustand, or similar)
- Node.js backend experience with Express, Fastify, or similar
- PostgreSQL expertise: query optimization, indexing, data modeling
- Experience with real-time features (WebSockets, SSE)
- Understanding of authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth, JWT, RBAC)
- Track record of leading projects and mentoring engineers
- Strong product sense - you think about user needs, not just code
What We Offer
- Base salary: $210,000 - $270,000 depending on experience
- Equity: 0.1% - 0.25% with 4-year vesting
- Fully remote with flexible hours

- $4,000 annual learning and equipment budget
- Latest MacBook Pro M3 or equivalent
